Celebrating Indiana Intern Day: Building Manufacturing Experience Through Hands-On Learning
On July 30, employers across the state will celebrate the eighth annual Indiana Intern Day, a statewide initiative led by the Institute for Workforce Excellence in partnership with the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. Created to recognize interns and promote work-based learning, Indiana Intern Day highlights the important role internships play in preparing the next generation of Indiana’s workforce.
At Hoosier Feeder, we’re proud to support work-based learning by providing students with opportunities to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing.
Learning Through Real Experience
An internship should be more than observing from the sidelines.
Students participating in our internship program become part of the team, working alongside experienced employees and contributing to day-to-day operations that support the design and manufacturing of our custom automation equipment.
Interns gain hands-on experience in areas such as:
- Welding and fabrication
- Machine assembly
- Manufacturing operations
By working on real projects alongside experienced team members, interns gain practical experience and a better understanding of how custom automation equipment is designed and manufactured.

Building Skills That Last
Manufacturing offers a wide range of career opportunities for students interested in engineering, skilled trades, technology, communications, and business.
Throughout their internship experience, students gain more than technical skills. They develop confidence, improve problem-solving skills, strengthen communication, and learn what it’s like to collaborate as part of a professional team.
Watching interns grow throughout their experience at Hoosier Feeder is one of the most rewarding parts of the program.
Manufacturing Internships Benefit Students and Employers
Internships benefit both students and employers.
Students gain exposure to manufacturing careers while developing practical experience that can’t be replicated in a classroom. Internship programs give students the opportunity to explore skilled trades, apply what they’ve learned, and better understand what a career in manufacturing can offer.
At the same time, our team benefits from the enthusiasm, curiosity, and fresh perspectives interns bring to every project. These experiences also help strengthen Indiana’s manufacturing workforce by encouraging students to explore long-term careers in the industry.
Supporting Indiana’s Future Workforce
Indiana Intern Day serves as a reminder of the value work-based learning brings to students, employers, and communities across the state.
Programs like this help connect students with meaningful career experiences while encouraging employers to invest in developing tomorrow’s workforce. We’re proud to support that mission by providing internships that offer hands-on manufacturing experience and opportunities for professional growth.

Celebrating Our Interns
On Indiana Intern Day, we’re proud to celebrate interns across Indiana and recognize the important role work-based learning plays in preparing the next generation of manufacturing professionals.
This year, we’re especially proud to recognize our summer welding intern, Collin Bell, for his hard work, dedication, and contributions to Hoosier Feeder. Thank you for everything you’ve brought to our team this summer. We appreciate your willingness to learn, your positive attitude, and the effort you’ve put into every project.
Happy Indiana Intern Day!
